Wet Nurses Series
2018/19
Mixed media technique using watercolor and digital intervention in photography.
A series of drawings created from interfering with photographs of wet nurses with their "masters" from the slavery period in Brazil. The objective was to re-signify and appropriate the images. To reflect on who these women are and how the loss of their identities is directly related to the lack I felt during my understanding as a woman and as a Black woman. The series concludes with another collaborative work: Diaspora (2019) . The work was presented at the conclusion of the course at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Minas Gerais (2019), under the guidance of Professor Wagner Leite and a panel composed of Janaína Barros and Brígida Campbell.
