By showing that a university degree does not guarantee the much-desired social ascension for those born into disadvantage, authors Michael França and Fillipi Nascimento expose an inconvenient truth: in Brazil, the starting point still defines almost everything, and education, while helpful, is not enough to eliminate all the mechanisms of the reproduction of advantages in a profoundly unequal society. I created the cover and interior illustrations, which accompany the chapter openings.
